Travel Photography Workshop in India - February 9-19, 2027
Travel with me to India to photograph my favorite places and experience this magical country together.
I’ve long dreamed of sharing my passion for India—its warmth, humor, and layered beauty—with a group of like-minded photographers, storytellers, and explorers. This journey is designed for anyone eager to immerse themselves in one of the world’s most visually rich cultures, from seasoned image-makers to complete beginners.
Why India
India is an awe-inspiring place, especially for visual artists. The colors and patterns of clothing and jewelry, the grandeur of Mughal architecture, the relics of history, the aromas of its cuisine, and above all, the humor and generosity of its people create an unforgettable sensory experience.
What to Expect
I’ve curated an itinerary that balances India’s most photogenic sites with ample time to shoot, reflect, and learn together. We’ll avoid long days lost to transit, instead focusing on powerful locations and experiences that reveal the essence of India. Each day will center on photography, whether in bustling markets, sacred riverside rituals, or serene gardens.
You’ll enjoy both ends of the hospitality spectrum: world-class luxury hotels that offer respite after the intensity of India’s cities, and boutique properties that provide a more personal, familial experience. And of course, we’ll share incredible meals—some of the finest food in the world.
The Workshop
Unlike most travel workshops, this trip is structured around daily practice and nightly review. We’ll set aside time each day to discuss the challenges and strategies of photographing people and places. In the evenings, we’ll gather to review one another’s work—a chance to learn, share, and grow together.
All levels of photographers are welcome. Beginners will get step-by-step support with digital photography basics, while advanced participants can dive deeper into questions of storytelling and style. While I’ll happily explain camera settings, my focus is less on technical gear and more on how we frame, choose, and tell stories with our images.
We’ll also confront the ethics of documentary photography—especially photographing people in cultures not our own. How do we gain consent? How do we avoid exploitation? These conversations are as important as the images we make.
Special Insights
In each city, experts will join us to share cultural and historical context. Understanding the stories behind what we see enriches the photographs we take and gives them depth and meaning.
